Approximately 35 people turned out to discuss the construction details used for the raised wood floor. APA along with representatives from the Southern Pine Council were on hand to answer questions about RWF system benefits including, extended living space with a porch out front and a deck off the back, easy home improvements when modifying utilities, natural isolation from moisture and insect sources at ground level and the reduced risk of flood damage. This project is serving two purposes, one to educate local builders and designers on the raised wood floor methods, and secondly, to compare costs versus slab-on-grade construction. The cost comparison will help quantify typical pier and beam foundation practices and eventually yield improved construction efficiencies.
